Sometimes less isn't more.

There is a certain charm that a wall packed full of interesting art possesses. With so many different pieces to look at, your eye doesn't know where to look first! It definitely makes a great statement piece or focal wall. I am really into this idea, now I just need to find a few more prints, photographs, paintings, etc... ha.

I think that this cluster of old black and white photographs is absolutely incredible. What a beautiful statement it makes. This would also be a such a unique way to display your family tree!

Ooh yes! We always love using wooden pant hangers as an inexpensive way to hang our fun prints!
This colorful wall is too cute.

Wow, this wall is incredible! We are loving the mix of mediums in this nature theme: paintings and sketches mixed with framed plants and insects. What a brilliant idea. We've gotta admit that the butterflies are our favorite part of this wall. How pretty!

We always love a good black and white photobooth picture and we really like how they incoporated some strips of photobooth photos into this wall collage. Great idea!

Hope you all are enjoying your August Long Weekend! I know we sure are! XO

Country charm.

There is something so simple but so beautiful about wood in a home, and in this case - the kitchen. With white washed floors, beautiful exposed brick and fun tiles or wallpaper you can really play up the rustic charm of plain old wood. Here are some of our favorite kitchens at the moment.
From the white washed floors, to that wallpaper and the raw wood cabinets, this little cottage is picture perfect!

I just want to spend days baking in this kitchen!

Graham & Co makes simple look so so good.

Such a pretty kitchen! The yellow fridge is so perfect with the white and the wood.

This is my absolute DREAM kitchen! All of that exposed brick and those perfect wooden shelves? The two photos above are both at Hally's Cafe in London and I can't stop staring at them! Photos found here.

Blast from the past.

Today we are going to share some home inspiration with you in the form of two incredible time capsule houses. Yes, we realize that both homes are slightly over the top when it comes to decor, but that's exactly what we love about them. You rarely see extravagant colorful homes like these anymore, and quite frankly we find them to both be pretty incredible.

No, this isn't a movie set for some elaborate 70's movie, this is an actual time capsule home located in Nashville, Tennessee that was built in 1974. It's absolutely amazing what great condition it is still in! We are totally digging the yellow bedroom with the raised platform for the bed with bedding that matches the wallpaper. However, I think our favorite room in the house would have to be the bathroom though. I mean, how incredible is that sunken tub surrounded by plants and accompanied with pops of bright yellow everywhere? Wow-ee. Oh, and of course you can't forget the chartreuse shag carpeted staircase in the foyer. SO good.

*You can find more photos of this incredible 70's home here.*

This ranch style house was built in 1957, making it slightly older than the previous home. The focal point of the house has to be the stunning circular brick fireplace surrounded by a curved half-circle living room. How fun would it be hosting parties in an incredible space like that? We also absolutely love the kitchen. Look at all of that turquoise counter space! We are in mid century heaven. Oh speaking of turquoise, check out that beautiful sunken tiled jacuzzi tub! Judging from the past two home tours, we really have a thing for sunken tubs. Hmm.. interesting.

Happy Sunday, friends!  XO

Dreamy outdoor spaces.

Now that patio season is finally upon us we thought it would be fun to share some beautiful ideas and inspiration for your next outdoor dinner party. (Aren't outdoor parties just the best?)

This combination of rustic place settings, wild flowers, and a lace table cloth gives off such a whimsical romantic feel. So pretty.

Love this canopy of light bulbs. How gorgeous would this look in the evening light?

The perfect backyard picnic brunch with friends. I really like how all of the benches are facing each other! Makes for a wonderful circle of conversation.

I already have one of these wicker swings hanging in my living room, but what a great idea to move it outside on a sunny summer afternoon!

Happy hosting! XO

It's all in the lighting.

The secret is always in the lighting. Here are some of our current favorite light fixtures:

Isn't this Envelamp wooden light absolutely darling? I would love to have this beauty hanging above my kitchen table.

Not only do we love this cute orange light fixture, but we also love the bold color palette of this kitchen!

Love the way this rustic farmhouse-inspired lamp is hung off-center and contrasts well against the photo collage on the wall.

Pretty mid-century light cluster.

These geometric copper light fixtures are nothing short of incredible.

Vintage/rustic bedroom inspiration.

Wow guys, I can't believe that it's already May 1st! Not only does that mean that summer is just around the corner but it also means that I have exactly one month to get everything packed up and ready to move into my new place! Eep! A month may seem like a long time, but when it comes down to it I know that time will fly by way quicker than I anticipate. (Doesn't it always?)

I had briefly talked about the fact that we are moving a few weeks ago, but now that the time has come to start packing up it definitely seems like more of a reality. It is sort of bittersweet because a part of me is pretty sad that I will be leaving the house that I have lived in for the past 6 years (and that has been in my family for almost 70 years), but I am also really excited for the challenge of making a new house into our home. It is also exciting to think about starting fresh when it comes to decorating; don't get me wrong, I still love having a vintage aesthetic in my decor, but I do plan on doing it with a bit of a different twist this time. Our new house is older than our current house (it was built in 1939) and is very much a character home filled with lots of original architectural details (which I absolutely loooove!) It is such a gorgeous, well-built house and I want to try to enhance it's beauty rather than pack it full of a million different trinkets and bulky furniture, ultimately hiding any special details. I think it's safe to say that I will have a big spring cleaning session in my future!

I have a folder on the desktop of my computer where I am constantly saving photos of interior inspiration and new ideas, so I thought it might be fun to share some of my ideas for my new bedroom with you today:

Let me paint you a bit of a picture of what our new house looks like so you can envision what I am planning on doing: first off, I think that our new house sort of has a cottage-like feel to it, I can't really pinpoint why that is, but every time I am there I feel like I have been transported back in time to an old cottage in the English countryside. There is just something so tranquil about it that I really want to try to embrace when it comes time to make decisions on decorating. So I decided to try to incorporate some of that rustic feeling into the decor along with my staple vintage pieces.

- Black and white photos: I love the look of how the old neutral photographs pop against the bright color of the wallpaper. There is just something so magical about old black and white photographs.

- Wrought iron bed frame: Our current bed frame is a teak-colored, angular wood frame and I have personally just grown tired of looking at such a heavy piece of furniture in my bedroom (especially considering that our new house doesn't have a huge master bedroom either, so maximizing space is a priority.) I also just love the rustic country feel that the old wrought iron bed frames have and how much more open and airy they look compared to my chunky wood one. We also have a beautiful wrought iron staircase leading to the second floor of the house so I think it would be great to play up that feature.

-Vintage floral print wallpaper: Not gonna lie guys, I'm pretty surprised that I don't have any wallpaper in my current home. What's wrong with me?! This is something that I have always had a soft spot for so I am pretty shocked that I have never incorporated any of it into my house. (Okay, that's a lie, I did once when I first moved out when I was like 20, but it was ultra-modern looking and not exactly what I am talking about here.) So yes, this time around I really want to work some into my decorating. I am thinking of just doing one feature wall in my bedroom (perhaps the window wall?) with a pretty floral wallpaper and then just painting the rest of them a soft complimentary tone and having nice neutral bedding with pretty throw pillows. Mmm... that sounds pretty perfect right about now.

Anyways, that's all I have for you at the moment, but I will be sure to keep you posted on the progress! Many 'before photos' have been taken and I'm so excited for the day that everything is done and I'm ready to share the 'after photos' with you!

XO, Stef

Kitchen love.

Well, good news! We survived our crazy weekend and don't worry we will share the exciting details with you all very soon! Everything went so well and we're a little sad that it's over, but we are thrilled to have a little bit of a breather this week and catch up on things.
Ok enough about us, let's get to the point here and today that is beautiful colorful kitchens! If there was only  one single room in our homes that we were allowed to have color we would chose our kitchens! Take a peek at some of our favorite kitchens on the web right now.
The yellow tiles in this kitchen make it look like the happiest place on Earth!

Kitchen Love. So perfect!

These cabinets are to die for! They are perfect and neutral, but imagine all of the colorful dishes you could load them with!

Love this vintage kitchen. The colors, those drawers and that light!

The Walker residence is pretty unbelievable, and this kitchen is proof!

Inspiring space: Enamelware everywhere.

Can I just start off by saying: whoaaaa. What an unbelievable enamelware collection! This all belongs to the lovely Lisa Congdon (you probably know her from her adorable illustrations and prints that are scattered all over Pinterest.) Today we are sharing a little peek into her amazingly colorful kitchen. There is just so much enamelware goodness, I don't even know where to start! First of all, I want to point out what an incredible visual impact having such a vast collection creates. Sometimes I feel like my Pyrex collection is getting a bit out of hand, but after seeing how amazing and fun her kitchen is I'm feeling a new wave of inspiration coming on. I really admire people who can accumulate such an impressive collection because it is something that requires countless hours, and not to mention tons of patience. Also, I must admit that this is pretty much the coolest mid-century collection ever.

Nicely done Ms. Congdon! We're pretty jealous. We're on the hunt for new Cathrine Holm pieces as we speak...

Psst... if you liked what you saw here, then you should definitely take a peek into Lisa's adorable Etsy shop here.

Inspiring interior: Bold floors.

We are usually so focused on walls that we totally forget what a beautiful statement bold floors can make! Take a gander at these pretty spaces:

Bold pink floors in a retro style kitchen. Love this!

We love how the chartreuse cabinets off-set the traditional 50's style black & white checkered floor.

How dreamy are these Kate Spade striped stairs?

This black and white triangle print floor makes this bathroom so fun! Well, I guess the adorable twin avocado sinks help too.

Take a look at this incredible hardwood floor. Whoa.

Inspiring space: Plenty of plants.

We love interiors that incorporate a little bit of the outside inside, especially during those long winter months. There is something so uplifting about the sight of a bright green plants during those dreary grey days. Actually... come to think of it, plants are a great addition to a home anytime of the year! Whether they are hanging plants, potted plants on the ground, or even a little herb garden on your windowsill, they sure add a pretty touch to any room. You don't even need a green thumb to incorporate plants into your decorating scheme because there are so many beautiful artificial plants avaliable these days. We use quite a few fake plants in our store's decor because it's just not practical to keep live plants next to our merchandise (read: dirt can be, well... dirty.) So whether they are real or artificial, we believe that every home should have a little bit of greenery in it. Take this beautiful eclectic space for example, we love how the green plants and boldly colored furniture pops against the neutral walls:

So have we awoken your inner green thumb?
