CHAD MEETS JACK SPADE

Most of you already know that I have a weakness for Jack Spade, I love their products, the bags, the wallets and the collab. with Barbour etc. But what I like the most is the quirky way they display their stores and the use of props. The store on Abbott Kinney is displayed in the same way as I saw in the stores and showroom in New York & the store in London. Once they might open a store in Amsterdam, when I'm lucky!

An original Diner - Square Diner

GQ & Nordstrom's Pop Up Store
Schoolhouse Electric
Hudson Street - Thom Browne @ nbr 100

Jack Spade Store @ Greene Street

Onassis Store @ Greene Street

J.Crew Store on Madison - The Vault
Nike Town NFL Display
P.J. Clarke's -  great steaks
Time Square @ night

Today I made a lot of miles by foot and that's exactly what I feel right now - my feet hurts and are full of blisters, but what the hack. It was a great day, beautiful weather and great food.  Breakfast at Square Diner homemade eggs benedict, yammie. And what about lunch at The Burger Joint, a "restaurant" tucked away in the Parker Meridian Hotel, the best hamburger in town!! Last but not least P.J. Clarke's here I enjoyed a great steak with sweat potato fries. Not only the restaurants, but also the stores I saw were great today. Too much to tell, one in particular was the Jack Spade in Greene Street, they had their collaboration with Barbour on display. Great jackets and beautiful bags in the waxed cloth we are used to from Barbour. Another store I liked was the Onassis Store also on Greene Street, great display and nice people in the store. Overwhelming was the entrance @ Nike Town all those football players and a mega USA flag made of baseball balls.

CHAD IN NEW YORK DAY TWO

Jack & Kate's Showroom

Steven Alan

The Spotted Pig
The Jean Shop
Car Porn, what a contrast
Levi's Shop

This morning started with a tour in the brand new showrooms of Jack Spade at Park Avenue.
It was great to meet the people of Jack Spade unfortunately I was not allowed to take pictures as there will be a press day next week. Then I walked in the direction of Meatpacking District and I popped into a cozy small shop of Steven Alen, where I bought myself a nice double face pocket square. I had a great lunch at the Spotted Pig, a Burger with Shoestring Fries....yammie. In Meatpacking I saw them all from Scoop New York till Jeffrey's and all in between like Levi's and the Jean Shop. And then finally it was time to head to the Industria Studio's for the Gant by Michael Bastian Show

JACK SPADE, LONDON OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Thursday March 29 the doors opened of the first Jack Spade Store in Europe, based @ Brewster Street, next to Stone Island and "coming soon" Woolrich Store. Jack Spade launched their collection in an environment just like their stores in New York & Chicago. The collection is presented between props like old calculators, gnomes and salt & pepper sets like hamburgers. The inside of the wall-units are covered with pin-up girls. The first Jack Spade bag was sold to a hardware store in 1997. In 1999, Jack Spade opened the first store at 56 Greene Street, New York. The concept was travel bags, trench coats and general merchandise. It was modern haberdashery mixing found furniture, model rockets, vintage Playboy magazines and classic products: Levi's 501 jeans, Timex military watches, Lacoste tennis shirts and Mackintosh raincoats. Over time, Jack Spade took their reputation for well-made, functional and stylish products and applied it to clothing. Thanks to the Jack Spade team for letting me taking these pictures!
